Ignore My Swollen Thyroid

Please be advised that I cut all my hair off yesterday:

I stole this style from a Dolce & Gabbana model. It, um, looked better on her. I still like it, though.

That is all. Carry on.

I dig it. Cute hair.

I've always felt like I look weird with the super short hair. Makes my forehead look huge or something, and even mussed it naturally sits in a way that makes me look like an 18 year old marine, or perhaps a member of the Hitler-Jugend if it's not dyed dark.

I have been tempted to fully shave my head in times of frustration and/or crazy summer heat here, but I have a lumpy head (no joke, my head is seriously strange), so that wouldn't work out well.

So I stick with shaggy. It mostly works out. But I'm always secretly a little jealous of people who can cut it super short and look good.

Thanks. I like mine a lot when I shave it, but this part of Ohio is a little too conservative to go any shorter than this. Depending on how I were dressed, I'd risk a gender-based bashing or just constant sympathetic questions about how my chemo treatments were coming along.

I've seen a few pix of you, and fwiw I think you wear shaggy very well. I love that look but I can't pull it off, I wind up with frizziness or the dreaded hair-helmet, which looks good on no one.

The hair helmet is indeed unpleasant, about as bad as mushroom-head, which I've accidentally given myself before, when trying to cut my own hair. I make C. cut my hair for me now, ever since a particularly unpleasant fuck-up.

The funny thing about my hair is that no matter how I cut it, it always slowly gravitates toward mullet. Always. Let me tell you, if I wanted, I could have one hell of a good mullet.

I like it -- it really lays nice. I have to keep a bit longer than yours because if I get it cut that short, it's just one big cowlick.

Thanks Andi. This is really the only length where my cowlicks work for me instead of against me.

Spit, I've long suspected that the mullet genetics share a certain amount of overlap with the lesbian genetics. Meanwhile, if we ever get around to playing Truth or Dare, I now know exactly what I'm going to do with my first dare. ;)

looking great! feel like we haven't crossed paths in ages, although I do credit your influence for the SciFi Channel marathons I've indulged in lately. :)

Looks good--you've got the facial structure for a short/short cut, brings out your features.

When I was younger, I loved my hair this short (I love to swim and this short it's no fuss). But I've grown out a little longer ever since I got asked how my cancer treatments were going.

Hi {{Manny}}! You know what they say about how the geeks shall inherit the earth, so Sci-Fi Channel is kinda like prep school. ;) The spaceship porn on Battlestar is truly amazing stuff, though, the way they flip a Viper around is tres sexy.

Hey, Conda, it's so much easier to do all the maintenance when it's short, isn't it? But yes, people do seem to feel a bit too free with the personal questions. My mom wouldn't let me cut my hair when I was a kid -- I was so much of a tomboy I think she was really freaked out by me also looking so masculine -- and even at my advancing age, heh, I still get a little thrill from cutting it all off.

Whoa!

J, you have now reached hero-status in my eyes ... Wow.

The cut is awesome. It suits you well, and I love the way it curls a little around your forehead ... :D

***starry-eyed and boggling***

Aww, thanks O. I got motivated after the chat at your place. :)

It's really cute! You know, I can't even imagine you with really long hair.

So now that you have your summer cut - can we finally get summer here in the midwest?

I hear that. Enough with the overnight freezing temps already.

A perfect warm weather haircut! I love it and now I'm missing my super-short hair.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it highlights all the grey that's coming in. (Insert my Tribbiani impression, "Why, god, why? Why are you doing this to us?!") I keep thinking of dyeing it but it just sounds like work, ugh. Yours always has such great color, though, no matter what cut you're wearing.

Grey? Dang. I thought it was highlights. Now *my* hair is grey. Check Beth's blog for an example.

Just got mine cut a few hours ago… it's about as short as yours now. Now I don't have to listen to my mom b***h about my hair when I see her tomorrow. :-P

Heh, what IS it with moms and hair? I saw that pic earlier, Far, it was a good one of both you & Beth.

Great haircut! I'm not just saying it b/c mine is pretty much the same. (except I have purple streaks on top). ::g::

I love having short hair.

Purple! Love it! I might have to copy your purple streaks... :)

I like it too! This is the first picture of you I've seen that I can actually see what you look like, not counting the ones of you as a kid.

I also am envious of the super-short haircut. I can't wear mine that way for reasons that I won't list for fear of coming off too self-deprecating, ha ha. I prefer my hair long because at least this way, I can pull it back in a ponytail and pretend it's short.

You and my son have similar haircuts and it looks great on both of you.

By the way, I'm straining my eyeholes trying to see what game you've got in the SNES behind you.

I'm very shy about pictures because I think I'm goofy-looking, so that's why the stuff I post is usually either from childhood or from a distance. Your kid is very cute, and your whole family is so damn photogenic, I'm jealous of the lot of you. ::blows raspberry::

Oh, and the game is Super Mario World. I never get tired of that one! Heh, my stacks of old school Nintendo titles live right beneath all my theory books in my office, which causes the occasional guest who sees my shelves to doubletake, like wtf, is that Secret of Mana and Sartre? Why yes, yes it is.

Love it, love it, love it! You were too hidden behind all that hair before. And now I'd request a full-on frontal shot with a big smile, only, coming from me, that seems a little hypocritical.

Nice cut, though you'd still be a longhair next to me.

I knew it! (About Super Mario World)

I'll be honest, I am quite photogenic when I've got my weight under control, but over the past few years I do not reflect light very well! The few photos I dare to post of myself are highly flattering but not necessarily accurate. Also, I'm very hard on myself that way, so I admit that I probably don't know what I really look like. In any case, the kid and the husband, they pick up my photogenic slack. :)

At 4/05/2008 12:15 AM, Blogger Jen said...

Fwiw, a person's weight has never made them seem any less beautiful to me -- people just don't scan that way to me.

You're not goofy-looking! It's indeed a bit weird to see a recent picture of you. Cute hairdo and nice to see you :-)

Thanks! ::blush::

PS I just realized "full frontal shot" comes off creepier than I'd intended. I just meant face-on.

lol, don't worry, I did not think you were asking for nudie pictures. (Although it's also true that I'm far more comfortable with those than with pictures of my face.)
